19-year-old Loughborough sprinter Harry Aikines-Aryeety will be competing in his first Olympic Games in Beijing in the 4x100m relay.
Harry, who competes for Loughborough University where he is studying for a degree in PE and Sociology, burst onto the scene in 2003, when he set a European age-14 best of 10.83 seconds for 100m.
Three years ago, Harry became double World Youth Champion and was awarded the ‘Rising Star of the Year’ accolade by the IAAF and the BBC Young Sports Personality of the Year award.
Following a fantastic 2006 where he became World Junior Champion over 100m, Harry was disappointed to miss the 2007 season with a back injury. Now fully fit and up to fourth in Britain’s 100m rankings, Harry is a strong hope for London 2012.
